What we make

Strangelight Audio is a small independent studio building Throughline, a modular synthesiser that runs as a plugin in your DAW and as a standalone application. You patch oscillators, filters, modulation, routing, and effects as nodes on a canvas, and the cables between them are the signal path — there is no hidden matrix deciding what reaches what.

Why it works this way

Most software synthesisers hand you a fixed architecture and a panel of controls over it. That makes the first sound quick and the hundredth sound familiar. Throughline takes the opposite trade: the architecture is the thing you edit, so the instrument you end up with is one you built rather than one you dialled in.

The cost of that freedom is that a patch can become hard to read. So the canvas is treated as a first-class part of the instrument rather than a diagram of it — signal flow you can follow by eye, nodes that show what they are doing, and a layout that survives coming back to it a month later.

How we build

Development happens in the open. The journal covers what is being built and why, the roadmap shows what is planned next, and the user guide and node reference document what exists today.

Throughline is sold as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. An instrument you have built patches in should not stop working because a card expired.
