Polyphony and Voices
Polyphony and Voices
Throughline beta ships with monophonic patch authoring as the supported path. Authored Polyphony Zones are disabled for the beta, so build chord and multi-voice arrangements in the DAW and route the resulting MIDI or audio into Throughline.
Monophonic Voices
Oscillator is a single voice. It has one Pitch input, so it is best for basses, leads, drones, and effects that follow one note or control stream at a time.
Build the voice explicitly:
- MIDI Input MIDI Out -> MIDI Decode MIDI In.
- MIDI Decode Pitch -> Oscillator Pitch.
- MIDI Decode Gate -> ADSR Gate.
- Oscillator Signal -> VCA Signal.
- ADSR Envelope -> VCA CV.
- VCA Audio -> Audio Output Audio In.
Unison
Unison stacks several detuned copies of the same note for a thick, wide sound. It is still one played note, not authored polyphony.
Use it to fatten a mono lead or bass:
- Unison Voices sets how many copies.
- Unison Detune spreads them in pitch.
- Unison Spread widens them in the stereo field.
Beta Scope
Polyphony Zones and instrument/effect group templates remain in the patch model for compatibility, but their authoring entry points are disabled for beta builds. Existing internal patches can still exercise compatibility paths; customer-facing docs and UI should not direct users to create new zones.
