Compressor

Evens out dynamics or adds punch, with a sidechain input for ducking.

Threshold

Sets the level above which compression begins.

Lower values bring more of the signal under gain reduction.

Ratio

Sets the amount of gain reduction for signals above the threshold.

Higher ratios hold back peaks harder once they cross Threshold.

Knee

Softens the transition into compression near the threshold.

Higher values introduce gain reduction more gradually near Threshold.

Attack

Sets how quickly gain reduction engages after the signal crosses the threshold.

Short attacks catch transients; longer attacks let more of the first hit through.

Release

Sets how quickly gain reduction recovers after the signal falls below the threshold.

Short releases recover quickly; longer releases make the level change more smoothly.

Makeup

Adds output gain after compression to restore level.

Higher values raise the compressed output without changing the detector threshold.

Mix

Blends the dry input with the compressed signal.

At 0% you hear the dry input; at 100% you hear only the compressed signal.
