7.1.6. Node shows Faulted

Throughline silences a node that produces invalid audio, such as a value that is not a number or is infinitely large. The problem then never reaches the rest of the patch or your speakers. Extreme settings, such as a filter pushed to the limit of its range, are a common cause.

  • If a node can reset itself, Throughline stops running it after 250 ms of invalid audio. Other nodes stop after the first invalid block.
  • The node shows a Faulted badge, and the header shows a count such as 1 node faulted. Point at the badge to see what happened. Click the header count to select a faulted node; click again for the next one.
  • A MIDI node that faults releases every note it held.

To run the node again:

  1. Change the setting that caused the invalid audio.
  2. Click the Retry button next to the badge, or edit one of the node's parameters. Any change that rebuilds the patch also works, such as adding or reconnecting a node.

Automation does not restart a faulted node: a Macro or DAW automation lane leaves it stopped until you retry or edit it. If the cause is still there, the node faults again.

Audio Input and Audio Output never stop this way. If your DAW sends invalid audio, those blocks are silenced and the patch continues when the input is valid again.

Still stuck: check Compatibility and known limitations, then contact support with your DAW version and plugin format.
